SAHAN recognises that peace and stability are paramount ingredients for sustainable development. Communities can only concentrate and create wealth for themselves when they are assured of their security and that their wealth and assets will be protected. Project planning and implementation methodologies are embedded in all projects implemented by SAHAN. Inclusion and rights-based approach that is adopted in all programs ensure that participation of all groups in the community will help win trust and consensus in the planning and implementation of different activities. All project implementation committees receive training in peace building and reconciliation the themes of which are informed by the conflict dynamics in each location.
